This San Antonio-area dome home, once owned by a Frost Bank heir, is for sale

Those who aren't content with a cookie-cutter abode may want to take note of a quirky dome home that recently hit the market in Helotes. The unusual dwelling once belonged to Joseph Hardin Frost, an heir to the Frost Bank fortune who died of COVID-19 complications in 2021, according to his obituary.

The peculiar home boasts 360-degree views of Hill Country from its hilltop setting. Views can be enjoyed on a large back deck, a third-floor observation loft or while roaming the property's sprawling 2.91 acres, the sales listing notes.

The house's oblong living room is three stories tall and includes a second-story balcony overlooking the fireplace. From the second-story landing, a small staircase leads to a tiny interior observation loft with slit-windows that afford views of surrounding Hill Country like the parapet of a castle.

As is common for dome homes, unexpected angles greet visitors at every turn inside this 2,676-square-foot structure. That may pose something of a challenge when it comes to decorating and furnishing, but this fixer-upper is an blank slate.

According to his obituary, Frost was an avid enthusiast of RV travel, and it shows. Outside the three-bed, two-bath home, a path leads through the property to a detached 900-square-foot RV garage.

This home has an asking price of $650,000.

This home is listed by Keith Puzz, broker.
