An ultra-modern Inverness home designed in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright is hitting the market for the first time.
Though the dwelling — listed this week for just shy of $3 million — isn’t a Wright original, it was designed with the kind of chic and quirky details indicative of the mid-century Prairie Style for which he was known. The actual designer was San Antonio architect Roy Braswell, and this was one of the last houses he created before he died in 2018.
The home’s current owner is Ehren Powell, senior vice president and chief digital officer of Marathon Petroleum Corp., according to county property records. Powell and his wife Carolyn are selling the house to be closer to their kids’ school, the listing agent explained.
One of the most breathtaking elements of the property is the recently designed Keith Zars pool, which features jets that shoot arcs of water over swimmers as they create splashes of their own. The pool also has lounge chairs built into a shallow inlet, where sunbathers can keep as dry as they want to be but dip a toe when it gets too hot.
And if one pool isn’t enough, there’s another connected to the large deck. Dubbed a “spool,” it’s a smaller pool with spa jets. It seems like a designed a safe place for parents to sip mojitos while the kids belly flop in the larger pool.
The four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home features 18-foot ceilings in its open and expansive living room. The bright kitchen has a stainless steel dual-range oven, hood and appliances as well as a large island with plenty of seating.
Throughout the house, white walls serve as gallery space for pops of color provided by floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the outdoors in and offer uninterrupted views of nature. In the primary bedroom, that's even more possible with French doors that open onto a terrace.
The house sits on a .73-acre lot including a multi-level landscaped backyard that butts up against an unbuildable natural area off of Lockhill-Selma Road — a feature that ensures the views of nature will remain uninterrupted.
