A San Antonio architect's stylish and secluded '70s home is on the market for the first time

A stylish modern home in Oak Haven Heights has hit the market for the first time since the owner's architect husband built it in 1973.

Nestled on a forested .73-acre lot, the asymmetrical structure with an aromatic redwood exterior is shrouded in the sounds of nature even though it's less than 20 minutes from downtown. Listed for $515,000, the home is located within Loop 1604 while feeling like it's a world away thanks to its seclusion among the oak trees.

David Earl Bradley, who died in 2021, made it his homestead for that very reason, according to his widow, Debra Bradley. A prolific architect, he was responsible for building more than 120 schools in Texas as well as the high-profile tear-down and rebuild of MacArthur High School.

"One thing he wanted to do was never have to mow a yard again," Debra Bradley said of the property the architect made his home for roughly five decades.

The interior of the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home features Saltillo tile and wood floors throughout its 1,851 square feet. Its large windows offer views of the wooded yard, where deer are frequent visitors.

"I sat and watched a doe birth a couple of twins the other day," said Debra Bradley, who added that she's also visited by foxes and coyotes.

Breathtaking views are also available from the home's deck, and the property also features a pool and a seasonal creek.

This home is listed by Carla Haley with Keller Williams Heritage.
