The most anticipated new restaurants and bars coming to San Antonio

Put your stretchy pants on, San Antonio. Plenty of new bars and restaurants are expected to make their debut through the end of this year and into spring of 2025.

From innovative fusion eateries and upscale dining spots to burger joints and neighborhood bars, these places run the gamut. The thing they have in common, though, is plenty of folks can't wait for them to make their debut.

Hot Joy
1101 Broadway
Southtown favorite Hot Joy announced in a June Instagram post that it will end its decade-long stay in Southtown in favor of a new location opening in the same building as NOLA and Pumpers. The new digs are planned to open late this summer with a menu bringing back old favorites like pork belly tacos and hot fried chicken.

Arizona-based restaurant chain The Sicilian Butcher is expanding to the Alamo City, bringing along its famed five-foot charcuterie boards and build-your-own cannoli bar. Family recipes from chef Joey Maggiore feature scratch-made pastas and other Italian culinary staples.

Slim Chickens franchisee Dan McGrath has already opened several Slim Chickens in and around San Antonio, but plans to add even more, saying that he expects that the San Antonio market could handle 12 or more additional locations. The Arkansas-based chicken chain specializes in classic fried chicken entrees and southern-inspired sides.

The owner of Bentley’s Beer Garden is at it again with two new projects opening in the same building. McFly’s Bar & BBQ and Just Like Heaven will share an address, the latter of which will be a nightclub featuring '80s and '90s music. Construction is slated to finish by September 30, but no other announcements have been made.

Terry Black’s BBQ is a Texas-wide chain with plans to expand to San Antonio. MySA reported that Terry Black’s has plans for a dining courtyard and subgrade parking at the upcoming Broadway location, and even a new hotel concept.

Canada's 6ixty Wings chain will make its U.S. debut with a location in Rogers Ranch at 2703 N Loop 1604 West, it recently announced with a TikTok video. The store will debut in October and be the first of several in the Alamo City, a spokesperson told the Express-News.
