A $1 million custom steel yurt is for sale north of San Antonio

Yurts are portable, circular tents used as dwellings by nomadic people in inner Asia. Or that's what the word meant before folks in the United States got hold of it. As a recent "yurt craze" has swept the country, the word's been applied to any round, largely open dwelling, whether or not it's portable.

Take for example this residence in the Hill Country town of Wimberley recently listed for just under $1 million. Described as a "one-of-a-kind custom steel yurt," the home sits on five acres and seems like it's probably not going anywhere — no matter how many nomads attempt to pick it up and carry it.

Built with energy efficient materials and including conveniences like a modern kitchen and a two-car garage, this yurt offers a "unique blend of artistry, charm and modern comforts," according to its sales listing.

Herd animals sold separately, of course.
