Sushi Zushi’s Lincoln Heights restaurant has permanently closed, pending a move to an unspecified new location, according to a sign on its front door.
“We are excited to announce that Sushi Zushi will be relocating to a new location, which will be announced soon,” read the message posted Tuesday morning at the San Antonio chain’s 999 E. Basse Road unit. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and greatly appreciate your continued support and understanding.”
The closure leaves the 25-year-old Japanese dining concept with locations at 9867 Interstate 10 and 18720 Stone Oak Parkway, Suite 154. The chain’s website also teases a Sushi Zushi Express location at 8355 Agora Parkway in Selma as “coming soon.”
The Current reached out to managers at Sushi Zushi’s two other locations for more details, but no one returned those calls. The phone went unanswered at the Lincoln Heights store.
While the chain’s Lincoln Heights restaurant is still listed as open on Google, the Sushi Zushi website has since removed the address and noted that the eatery is moving to an unspecified new home.
The dining spot’s closure comes after the state of Texas this spring threatened to shut down the Sushi Zushi chain over unpaid taxes, according to the Express-News. Earlier in the year, the business’ owners sought buyers for the restaurants as they sought to pay debt obligations under a bankruptcy reorganization plan, the daily also reported.
