Bowie's recent single — a shocking birthday present, considering he was all but retired from public life — is a vivid and rich return to his glory days of Tony Visconti and beautiful decay. His voice sounds as old as its 66 years, but it fits the overall sunset tone of the song. Could this be the end of the Thin White Duke? If so, what a way to go.
