But subtle dig appearing on the event's Facebook page stung Smith when it was claimed this year's event was being organized by "people who truly loved Ram."

"I gave them what they wanted [control of Ram Jam] and apparently they weren't satisfied with that," Smith told the Current. "I just wish them good luck."

"Everyone in the United States has the right to say whatever they want," Cruz responded to the Current, "but I read it and felt it was in poor taste, too, so I emailed Jeff and I told him it wasn't me and that people will write shit. But him and I are cool and we should put all this nonsense behind us. Besides, this isn't about me and Jeff anymore. This is about my dad and the people who loved him: the bands and the fans."

The comment has since been erased. •
