Aural Pleasure Review
Melina Narezo: 'Melina'
Published: March 13, 2013
The debut album from this local singer-songwriter stands out from a swamp of similar releases on a number of levels. Instead of retreading old standards, she wrote most of the material and assembled a solid backing band, giving her R&B-tinted jazz numbers a deft, breezy sound. Her voice isn't the most polished, but it's extremely confident and relaxed, with the material to match. It all adds up to a particularly accomplished first statement.
