Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell: 'Old Yellow Moon'
Published: March 6, 2013
Old Yellow Moon is an album that can be said to have been gestating for nearly 40 years, since Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell first became friends and collaborators. Their fruitful bond and impeccable song choices carry this album to an earnest and open-hearted greatness rarely achieved in contemporary country music. An immediate favorite, the tense and kinetic Crowell-penned "Bull Rider" features one of the best lines of country poetry I've ever heard, in which he compares bull riding to "a hurricane dancing with a kite."
