Foster Minor (Immortal Guardian)
Being a bass player can be a thankless task in any band, but in heavy metal it can be an absolute burden. (Don't believe us? Ask Jason Newsted.) Especially in a band like Immortal Guardian — where the emphasis is on high-energy guitar and keyboard shredding — holding down the bottom can seem like a punishment instead of a privilege. But IG's Foster Minor shouldn't have to wonder if anyone's listening — he was selected by many of you as the city best wielder of the thunder stick. And while he doesn't shoot off the same kind of pyrotechnics as his mates, it's his mastery of the bedrock — skillful but not too slick — that gives them something to jump off of in such a spectacular fashion. Minor also handles the band's lightning shifts from pure thrash to proggy power with aplomb. So give the man some room in the mix, board operators — we're paying attention.
