Puro meets Pearl-adjacent at this laidback joint that packs a punch with seriously delicious cocktails.

As the summer heat drags on and temperatures race past the previous day’s mercury line, Stay Golden Social House provides a chill place to fight the heat and grab a cocktail, both figuratively and literally.

Owned by Jeret Peña (The Brooklynite) and Chris Erck (Viva Tacoland), Stay Golden Social House (or Golden Gloves Social House, as it was first known) takes the cocktail know-how found at The Brooklynite and pairs it with a breezy setting that scrubs away any uppity notions.

The space is splashed with boxing memorabilia of yesteryear and one mounted elk head (becoming signature décor for Peña projects).

Seating can be found along the bar, with tall tables dotting the interior in the most practical of ways. Outside, patrons can settle in for the evening with one of the many mismatched patio chairs available. Stay Golden uses large wooden spools (as for winding cables) for tabletops and the patio is lit using globe-string lights to cement that laidback feeling.

The menu is simple—beers on the right, boozy drinks on the left. Happy hour lasts from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for $4 Moscow Mules, daiquiris, micheladas and $2 Lone Star and Pearls, but don’t expect things to get much pricier than that. Drinks, all under $10, range from the Sting Like a Bee, a gin-based elixir with honey, lemon, Fire & Damnation bitters (which contain capsaicin spice along with subtle smoke) and lavender soda to a Mean Left Hook with bourbon, house-made peach bitters, Fernet Branca and lemon-oleo. Something will hit the spot (and you’ll eventually hit the mat, after several).
