With popular acts like Ralphie May and MadTV’s Bobby Lee performing this week, it’s no surprise that Jeff Foxworthy and company have decided to postpone their October 1 show at the AT&T Center for a to-be-determined date. Among all the laugh-doings this week is a special show that should not be overlooked. On Thursday, LOL Comedy Club hosts a Texas Comics Showcase featuring performers from around the state auditioning for a slot in the club’s regular rotation of features. Included in the bunch are Tony Ybarra, who describes his comedy style as “all the class of an Armani suit, but with the wearability of a pair of Sketchers”; Carey Denise, who’s shared the stage with Paul Mooney and Norm Macdonald; and Tom E. Morello, a Boston native who brought his Latin brand of comedy — and his new family — home to San Antonio. Also performing is recent finalist in the prestigious Funniest Person in Austin competition, Chris Cubas, who as well as touring nationally with the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour has performed at Fun Fun Fun Fest and NBC’s Stand Up For Diversity. It’s a great opportunity to see the state’s best young talent hungry for stage time perform in person before moving on to bigger media markets to make their mark in the industry. $10; 8pm Thu, Sept 29; Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, 618 NW Loop 410, (210) 541-8805, lolsanantonio.com.
