Taste this: Pulled pork sandwich, $6
Published: May 30, 2012
Cheap eats at locavore heaven Restaurant Gwendolyn? Yup. Their three- and five-course dinners are legend, but the same zealously sourced local ingredients are present at lunchtime, too. The pulled pork sandwich on homemade (of course) milk bread is a winner. Chef Michael Sohocki told the Current his recipe is "quite simple," just slow-cooked countryside pork with mounds of caramelized onions and garlic, a touch of tomato paste, and a shake of black pepper for the sauce. It's then served with seasonal greens (last week it was shards of crunchy cabbage) and topped with Gwendolyn's distinctive whole-seed mustard and browned on the griddle.
