Slow Food lessons and hip-hop Thai
Published: October 10, 2012
Chef Michael Sohocki from Restaurant Gwendolyn is teaching cooking courses every Sunday through October 21 to promote Slow Food South Texas, our local chapter of the locavore phenomenon that is Slow Food International. The classes are at 3 p.m. in the Auld House at the San Antonio Botanical Garden (555 Funston). This Sunday, attendees will learn about holiday beverages for $30, and next Sunday, Sohocki will demonstrate how to smoke meat and fish for $35. The series will culminate with the Slow Food South Texas Harvest Gala on November 3. Find out more at slowfoodsouthtexas.org.
Bin 555 (555 W Bitters) gets funky this Friday, October 12. Chef Jason Dady is giving a Thai dinner at 10:30 p.m., matching mango, curry, and coconut flavors with cocktails and wine pairings. The soundtrack for the evening will be hip-hop, so be prepared for some Kanye. The dinner is $70, and reservations can be made at (210) 496-0555 or info@bin555.com.
