San Antonio Herb Market Returns on Saturday

Photo: , License: N/A

This Saturday's farmers market at the Pearl Brewery will feature the 21st Annual Herb Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rose is 2012's herb of the year, so Chef Steven McHugh — formerly at Lüke San Antonio and a future Pearl Brewery restaurateur — will be giving a cooking demo using roses. There will also be experts and speakers explaining how to grow roses, the history of roses, and how to set up drip irrigation. If you're looking to get your thumb greener this fall, head to the market on Saturday.

Earl Abel's has a new neighbor in the Terrell Plaza Shopping Center — Target. That's as good a reason as any to have a promotion. For the rest of the month, Earl Abel's is offering a two-piece fried chicken plate at $4.95, with mashed tates, vege-side, and dinner roll. Four pieces of bird go for $4, eight for $8, and 12 for $12. Specials are both sit-down and to-go.
