SA chefs honored by StarChefs

Food & Wine has good reason to come to Texas (as they announced they will with a fest in April in, yawn, Austin) — we have so many great chefs in this area. StarChefs.com agrees. Every year, the magazine recognizes chefs from four cities. This year, that includes chefs from San Antonio. Quealy Watson from the Monterey will receive a Rising Star, and Michael Sohocki at Restaurant Gwendolyn will receive the Sustainability Chef award. Jason Dady from Bin 555, Tre Trattoria, and Two Bros. BBQ Market is getting a restaurateur award, and Jeret Peña from The Esquire will take home the mixologist award. The awards will be given out at the StarChefs Rising Stars Review on February 21 at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. Many congrats to our local culinary talent!

The Super Bowl is this Sunday. It's a big deal to some, but if you couldn't care less, that's a pretty good time to head to the supermarket for your weekly grocery run. Just don't expect to find any chips or hot dog buns. If you're hosting your own party but don't want to cook, the Bright Shawl (819 Augusta) is offering party platters, with chicken wings, sandwiches, sliders, potato skins, and more. Place your order by 4 p.m. Friday at (210) 225-6366.
