Industry News: Valentine's is for amateurs
Published: February 6, 2013
Valentine's Day is possibly one of the worst times to frequent a restaurant. The staff is stressed, everything is prix fixe, and couples are forcing romance over salads. Instead, force your loved one to consume food you have painstakingly prepared. Sur La Table is holding several cooking classes to prepare you, including Date Night classes for Valentine's Day and a Valentine Macarons class. The Date Night courses will show you how to prepare a full meal, from salad to dessert. Classes will run about $69-$79 per person (classes are 2 to 2 1/2 hours long). Go to surlatable.com or call (210) 978-5586 to sign up.
If you do insist on going out on V-Day, the Park North Alamo Drafthouse at Blanco and 410 is having a 7 p.m. showing of "It Happened One Night" with a four-course feast of beef tenderloin, salad, game hen, and dessert. Cost is $65 per person, and includes the ticket price and food. Go to drafthouse.com to buy tickets.
