Diana Barrios Trevino, restauranteur at the helm of Los Barrios and La Hacienda de Los Barrios, is helping struggling San Antonians through the power of flan. During July, stop into either restaurant for a slice of Pastel con Flan and get a "Got Heart?" T-shirt for $14.99. The shirts raise money for Viola's Huge Heart, Trevino's foundation named for her mother, Viola Barrios, who was slain in her home in 2008. The charity raises money for scholarships for hard-working San Antonio students in need of financial assistance.
Tre Trattoria is having a couple alcohol-paired dinners this week. Thursday, July 12 is a dinner at Tre Trattoria Alamo Heights, featuring summer foods paired with Texas beers. You can enjoy a dinner pairing cocktails with summer dishes, like scallops and heirloom tomatoes, at Tre Trattoria downtown on Friday, July 13. Both dinners are $35 with receptions starting at 6:30, dinner at 7 p.m. Call Tre Alamo Heights at (210) 805-0333 and Tre downtown at (210) 223-0401 for reservations.
