Community pitches in to save The Foundry

Photo: , License: N/A

The Foundry, a church-run coffee shop at 2720 McCullough, was set to shut its doors on Wednesday, June 20. But thanks to a group of committed patrons, there's a chance it'll be resurrected. Foundry customer Pam Bryant went to the owners and proposed to raise some money to keep the Foundry open. The Foundry asked on their Facebook page last week for 100 people to pledge $20 a month to keep the shop going. If the customers can get the money together, the Foundry could possibly stay open. Those interested in donating or volunteering their time at the shop should contact Pam at bryant.pj62@gmail.com.

The Magnolia Pancake Haus has expanded. The San Antonio breakfast mainstay opened in 2000 as a small breakfast spot, and has become such a favorite for locals that they recently opened a second location at 10333 Huebner. The new location opened a few weeks ago, but is already bustling and the waits are long. You can put your name down and have the staff text you when your table is ready. But if you've ever had Magnolia's pfannekuchen, you know it's worth the wait.
