Chase Durousseau has a lot of vowels

Photo: N/A, License: N/A

The last time I saw Chase Durousseau he was wearing a tight-fitting dinosaur shirt featuring a very menacing velociraptor — not for his love of God’s “little jab at creationists” but for his joy in outdoing all the hipsters sporting wolf-themed shirts. Part absurdist and part realist, Chase dives into material ranging from his belief in why bears are more bad-ass than sharks (and deserve appropriate theme music) — to being a black guy who loves comic books, movies, and sci-fi. Having been doing stand up for a short time, Chase has already won the Houston’s Funniest Person Contest (an annual competition organized by The Laff Stop) and travelled overseas to perform for the troops. Not to mention doing body shots off a tall redhead named Alison downtown at Alibi’s Sports & Spirits. You’ll have every opportunity to get to know Chase this week when he features for John Morgan at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, but I’ll always know him as the funny brilliant guy who made the mistake of letting me choose his press photo. John Morgan with feature Chase Durosseau and emcee Alex Ansel, $15; 8pm Wed, Oct 19; 8pm Thu, Oct 20; 8pm and 10:15pm Fri, Oct 21; 8pm and 10:15pm Sat, Oct 22; 8pm Sun, Oct 23; Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, Park North Plaza, 618 NW Loop 410, (210) 541-8805, lolsanantonio.com.
