Beat the heat, eat meat

Today's the day to celebrate Merikah and everything it stands for, not least of all overeating and bargain shopping. If that's your way of expressing patriotic fervor, then this month is a great one for you. Perry's Steakhouse at La Cantera (15900 La Cantera Pkwy, Ste 22200) is offering four items for $4 after 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in July. Chose from the Polish sausage, a specialty lemon drop martini, a pork chop sampler, and a candy bar pie. The price is good for one item per diner.

What's more Merikan than a burger? Earl Abel's (1201 Austin Hwy) is having a summer-long special, featuring a different burger at 20-percent-off every week. This week it's the spicy Pueblo Burger and next week is the Texas Burger. Later in the summer, they'll have a Kobe Burger and a Bison Burger on special. So if you're trying to beat the heat and eat a lot of meat, Perry's and Earl Abel's have some deals for you.
