Armie Hammer's bakery lands in SA

With the opening of Bird Bakery (5912 Broadway) at 10 a.m. Saturday, San Antonio is getting a bit of Facebook celebrity. The Facebook movie, that is. Armie Hammer, who portrayed the Winkelvoss twins in The Social Network, is opening the bakery with his native-SA wife Elizabeth Chambers to help fulfill her dream of a bakery to call her own. Hammer revealed the opening date in an interview on the talk show Ellen last week, so expect a crowd to flood the sugary gates. The starry couple promised to be directly involved in the bakery despite their Hollywood schedules, so expect to see them sporadically around town.
If you can't get enough of the food truck craze, there's another location to punch into your GPS: 609 South Alamo. Former site of the Acapulco Drive-Inn in Southtown, the Alamo Street Eat Bar now hosts several trucks including Cullum's Attaboy and new The Chili Queens. With a soft opening behind them, watch for the grand opening April 3.
