Andrew Weissman to Open Restaurant in Old Liberty Bar Space

Photo: , License: N/A

Ever since opening The Sandbar and Il Sogno at the Pearl Brewery, Andrew Weissman has kept his restaurants in the vicinity. First, news came out about The Luxury, his shipping container joint on the river, which after almost two years in the works is (once again) rumored to open soon. Now, Weissman is set to take over the building that houses Boehler's, and the Liberty Bar before it. The casual restaurant will be called Minnie's Tavern. It will hopefully open early next year. Boehler's will remain open until Weissman closes on the property.

Last week, Taco Cabana founder Felix Stehling passed away. Stehling started Taco Cabana with the first restaurant in 1978 at the corner of Hildebrand and San Pedro. The chain now has more than 150 locations in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. As someone who had many a late night run through the Taco Cabana drive thru for tacos and queso, I owe a debt of gratitude to Stehling for creating a place with affordable food at all hours.
