David Gilbert, chef at Sustenio at the Eilan Resort, released a book of his food travels in Asia this year. He’s been writing up a storm, penning a story about his experience apprenticing in a kitchen in Amsterdam for the annual International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association writing contest. His story, “The American Apprentice,” won the 2012 Emerging Writer Scholarship Award and will be published in the January 2013 issue of the association’s magazine, Global Writes.

Freetail Brewing has never shied away from making creative craft brews. And that creativity pays off. Bon Appetit named Freetail’s Spirulina Wit one of the weirdest Strange Brews in the country on the magazine’s drink blog. The beer is made with algae, giving it its signature green hue. I you want to see it in person, head to Freetail.

Congrats to both David Gilbert and Freetail Brewing on their awards!
