We've been periodically called, in pop culture nomenclature, Debbie Downers. The moniker alerts to a penchant for rants, a perennial favorite centering around the increased currency given to televised fluff over more substantive investigative journalism. And, granted, video journalist JT Street of KABB-TV is no Edward R. Murrow (the breadth of his reportage, according to his station bio ranges from "burning his tongue on the latest deep-fried dessert at the Texas Folklife Festival" to giving movie reviews via his "Preview Review" segments) but (as his surname attests) he's the prototypical man on the street. And he obviously knows something about engaging with subjects and viewers. With so much bad news in the world, what the hell is wrong with that? And what the hell is wrong with us?
