1. Haven for Hope
1 Haven for Hope Way, (210) 220-2100, havenforhope.org

Why help the homeless? They should all get out there and get a job! Giving them free room and board and what Haven for Hope people call “radical compassion” — “We show love to everyone in how we speak, see, and serve,” they say — is something only people like… Jesus would do. That’s the whole (secular) point of Haven for Hope, which seeks to transform the homeless population by helping them help themselves make the transition to a healthy, productive life. If you’re homeless (we know our readership!), check them out. If you love to serve, this is the place for you.
