ESSENTIALS 210

1. Lüke
125 E Houston, (210) 227-5853, lukesanantonio.com

Due to its location inside the Embassy Suites downtown, happy hour prices at Lüke, where a domestic craft beer can run upward of $7, may seem like regular prices just about anywhere else in SA. However, Lüke is awfully democratic in its deals; half off of beer and wine by the glass, and generous mark-downs on several specialty cocktails and small plates. It’s also on seven days a week, giving working stiffs stuck in the office from 3-6 p.m. on weekdays a chance to catch up on Saturday or Sunday, and Tuesday’s is extended to 8 p.m. For a real steal, come hungry for 50-cent raw or fried Gulf oysters ($1 if charbroiled), and wash ’em down with a Pearl, or the less-poetic Lone Star, $2 during Happy Hour.

2. Taco Cabana
Multiple locations, tacocabana.com

3. Azuca Nuevo Latino
713 S Alamo, (210) 225-5550, azuca.net
