In discussing the high number of overweight folks locally, Leon "Lee" Rosa acknowledges San Antonio's perennial appearance on national "fattest city" lists is probably good for business. But he quickly notes he seeks to slim SA one fatty a time (our word, not his). "I actually have a guy who lost 89 pounds in two months," Rosa said of one of the 80 clients at his fat-loss camp. "Another lost 67 pounds in three months. But typically the goal is to lose two to three pounds a week, or 10 to 15 pounds a month. It depends on the person." To accomplish that, the 26-year-old Puerto Rican — and six-year U.S. Air Force veteran — puts his clients through the mill. For one hour, it's non-stop exercise, including CrossFit, cardio, and bodyweight workouts. It's not for the faint of heart. We suspect the same charisma that inspires those Rosa tortures to turn around and then vote for him in our Best Of is what keeps folks aboard the exercise train. That's saying something.
