Best of SA 2013

Best Columnist

1. Brian Chasnoff
San Antonio Express-News, mysa.com

As if we here at the Current don’t already look (and feel) like bums sometimes. Whenever Chasnoff, San Antonio’s best Banana Republic model slash columnist, walks into City Hall, he’s pretty much the best dressed there. Don’t let the charm fool you. Chasnoff was a solid newshound during his days as a City Hall/politics reporter for the Express-News, but when the paper bumped him up to columnist last year, dude got unchained. Like most good columnists, Chasnoff regularly delivers smart writing with a healthy dose of righteous indignation. When he settles into a topic, the guy’s relentless. Just ask District 8 City Council hopeful Rolando Briones — he should know better than anyone.
