Best Beer Selection

1. The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium
11255 Huebner, (210) 696-5080, beerknurd.com
There are times at the Flying Saucer that frequent flyers need to be told to fasten their seat belts because they're in for a taste explosion. Even those who have several plates on the wall bearing their name (each from trying 200 different beers) can find a surprise at least once a week. People come for a selection of about 85 taps and more than 150 bottles, but they keep coming back for rare beers that somehow managed to escape the vast maw that is Austin's thirsty craft beer scene and make it down to San Antonio. Remember, the chalk board high above the bar won't always reflect a super-secret one-keg arrival, so get to know the regular bartenders and the managers so you can flash them the proper beer gang signage for the hookup.

2. The Friendly Spot
943 S Alamo, (210) 224-2337, thefriendlyspot.com
3. Yard House
15900 La Cantera Pkwy, (210) 691-0033, yardhouse.com
